With the first of two cards today, the UFC stops in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
UFC Fight Night 99 takes place at SSE Arena Belfast in Belfast. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass.
In the main event, Uriah Hall (12-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) and Gegard Mousasi (40-6-2 MMA, 7-3 UFC) meet in a middleweight rematch. In September 2015, the two fought in japan, where Hall pulled off a stunning second-round knockout for the upset. Now Mousasi goes after some revenge in the headliner.
Only one of our MMAjunkie editors, writers and radio hosts picked Hall to beat Mousasi the first time around. But this time, it’s unanimous. By a 10-0 margin, our staff is taking Mousasi, who is more than a 5-1 favorite in the rematch. In the first fight, he closed as big as a 7-1 favorite.
In the co-feature, England’s Ross Pearson (19-12 MMA, 11-9 UFC) meets Scotland’s Steven Ray (19-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in a lightweight battle. The odds are neck-and-neck, and so are the picks. Six of our staff members are taking Pearson; four give the nod to Ray.
Also on the main card, Timothy Johnson (10-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) meets former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov (26-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who makes his UFC debut. Eight of 10 are taking the promtional newcomer to get a heavyweight win right out of the gate. And to open the main card on UFC Fight Pass, Teruto Ishihara (9-2-2 MMA, 2-0-1 UFC) takes on Ireland’s Artem Lobov (12-12-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC), a teammate of Conor McGregor. Nine of 10 are picking Lobov, who is better than a 2-1 favorite.
